      I had an enjoyable experience reading Pete Dunne's soon-to-be-released book Arctic Autumn.I have always enjoyed Pete's writing style in his BirdWatching articles, so I was really looking forward to reading one of his books. The good folks at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt provided me a copy of the advance uncorrected proof to review. I thought it was kind of cool to see a book before its final form. The climate of the Arctic is characterized by long, cold winters and short, cool summers. There is a large amount of variability in climate across the Arctic, but all regions experience extremes of solar radiation in both summer and winter. Some parts of the Arctic are covered by ice (sea ice, glacial ice, or snow) year-round, and nearly all parts of the Arctic experience long periods with.
